Magnetic filters
Powerflushing
Over time heating systems become clogged with a substance called "magnetite" which is a black crude oil appearance type substance.
This settles in radiators causing air to often trap at the top resulting in cold spots and constant bleeding, this in turn also acts as an insulator not allowing water to pass through effectively reducing system efficiency and output and also lead to excessive fuel consumption, not to mention extra wear and tear on boiler components such as pumps etc. resulting in more expensive breakdowns.
Powerflushing can be carried out on the majority of systems to help restore system efficiency and prolong the life of your boiler.

Heating controls
The right controls are again an essential part of a central heating system.
Many boiler manufacturers offer their own controls which can give upto an extra 4% gain over and above the "A" rated performance figures currently available, these can also in some circumstances give way to extra fuel savings and further extended warranties on your boiler.
Many households have only a basic timeclock and thermostat or indeed no room thermostat at all, this is a very inefficient and expensive way to run your heating !
Many boilers both old an new can be retro fitted with up-to-date controls including "smart" controls which can even be controlled from your smartphone or tablet !
